Starting in the gym can feel overwhelming —
Especially when you’re unsure whether you’re training correctly or safely. For Noreen, that uncertainty was holding her back from fully enjoying her time in the gym. After a brief conversation and a bit of guidance on the gym floor, she decided to commit to a few personal training sessions. What followed was a shift not just in how she trained, but in how she felt about her own capabilities.
Below, Noreen shares her experience in her own words.
Before we started working together, how did you feel about using the gym and the equipment on your own?
“Before we started, I felt quite anxious about using the gym equipment on my own. I nearly sustained an injury due to my lack of knowledge, which made me feel unsure and hesitant about training independently.”
You mentioned that I took a bit of time to show you exercises on the machines — what difference did that make for you?
“It made a big difference. Being shown how to use the machines properly helped me feel much more confident and comfortable in the gym, rather than second-guessing what I was doing.”
Since starting PT sessions, what changes have you noticed — both physically and mentally?
“I feel more upbeat and more dedicated to my training. Physically, I’m starting to feel more toned, and mentally I feel more positive about being consistent and putting the work in.”
What’s been the biggest surprise about committing to regular sessions instead of training alone?
“The biggest surprise has been realising that I’m capable of doing so much more than I thought. Regular sessions have helped me push past limits I wouldn’t have challenged on my own.”
How has your relationship with the gym changed — and what keeps you looking forward to your sessions?
“My relationship with the gym has changed a lot. Instead of feeling anxious, I now look forward to a challenging workout and enjoy pushing myself in a structured and supportive way.”
